The hotel window
A red-eye lands the next morning.
Your trip starts on the 12th, but you do not. Book the hotel from your departure date and the first night you pay for is a night spent at 38,000 feet. On JFK→LHR, 50 of the 60 cheapest offers land the next morning — so LetzGo searches hotels for the window you are actually there, and pairs each flight only with rooms quoted for its own window.

One night, every time. It is a small error that only shows up after you have paid for it, and it is invisible if the flight and the room were priced by two different searches.
The right nights
Hotels are searched for the window you are at the destination, not the window your trip spans. A flight is only ever shown against a room priced for its own dates.
A price with a clock
Both halves expire, at different times. Each result counts down the shorter of the two, so you can see how long the total you are looking at is still the total.
